As a member of the All-Party Beer Group, Jane Stevenson MP was delighted by the recent announcement by the Government that will see the alcohol duty paid for drinks on tap at the pub will be up to 11p less per pint than in a supermarket. Which will benefit 3,485 pubs across the West Midlands.
Attending the Great British Beer Festival today, Jane was joined by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, to celebrate the UK’s brewing and cider industries, as well as enjoy a friendly and not at all competitive game of shuffleboard.
Commenting, Jane said:
“I've been coming to the Great British Beer Festival since 2008, and it's good to be back celebrating our brewing and cider industry. Great to talk to the CAMRA podcast about today's announcement on pub support.
I've been Festival shuffleboard champion 3 times and today I had a new challenger in PM Rishi Sunak - I have to say he was a bit of a demon shuffler! I haven't beaten my all-time record of 46. Yet. The PM was a bit too good for a beginner!
Great to see the Prime Minister showing support to the beer industry and pleased our cross-party group has a strong showing”
