Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson has thanked the city’s binmen for continuing to collect waste and recycling during the coronavirus outbreak.
She attached a thank you note to her bin on the evening before it was collected, which read: ‘Thank you all for working so hard so we can stay home, protect the NHS so we save lives’.
Bin collections across the city have continued as normal during the coronavirus crisis, but this is being kept under review as the situation unfolds.
Jane said: “I wanted to thank all of Wolverhampton’s binmen who are continuing to go out every day and ensure our bins are emptied. I am incredibly grateful that this vital service is still being maintained at such a challenging time.
“Our city’s key workers, including NHS staff, teachers and shop assistants, are doing an amazing job under difficult circumstances and allowing us to stay at home and save lives.
“They are absolute heroes and each and every one of them is a credit to our city.”
