Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson celebrated the reopening of pubs, bars and restaurants in the city on Super Saturday by visiting The Harrowby Arms in Fordhouses.
She joined many locals who were glad to see pub doors reopen and enjoyed drinks in a safe and responsible way.
Jane was also able to see what safety measures the pub had put in place to protect both customers and staff, including hand sanitiser at the entrance and a one-way system to order drinks at the bar.
Screens have also been put up at the bar to protect staff, and tables are spaced out to ensure social distancing. In the beer garden, benches have also been placed at safe distances.
Jane said: “I know many people in Wolverhampton are glad to finally be able to enjoy a pint at their local pub. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to reduce the spread of coronavirus, which has allowed us to take steps to gradually reopen our economy and society.
“It was great to visit The Harrowby Arms in Fordhouses on Saturday, to have a drink and also see how the staff have adapted to the ‘new normal’ of social distancing and regular handwashing. I was also pleased to see customers drinking responsibly while still enjoying themselves.
“I would encourage anyone who goes out to a pub or restaurant to please make sure you follow the measures that have been put in place for everyone’s safety.”
