Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson has congratulated everyone involved in the vaccine rollout in Wolverhampton, as figures revealed that almost 1 in 3 adults in the city have now received a jab.
Latest figures released by the NHS yesterday (25th February) show that over 66,000 people in Wolverhampton have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, which is equivalent to almost 1 in 3 adults in the city.
Nationally 18.7 million people have now been vaccinated, as the rollout moves at huge speed and the NHS now starts to invite those aged 60-64 to book an appointment.
Jane has thanked everyone involved in the city’s efforts to vaccinate adults as quickly as possible, including the Black Country Clinical Commissioning Group, community pharmacists, GPs and volunteers.
She said: “It is amazing to see that over 66,000 adults in Wolverhampton have now been vaccinated. That’s almost 1 in 3 of all adults in the city, and is a fantastic achievement. I want to thank everyone involved in the rollout, which is giving protection and hope to so many people.
“If it wasn’t for the extraordinary efforts of so many Wulfrunians, we wouldn’t be in the positive position we are now where we can start to gradually unlock society and the economy.
“I have seen first-hand just how challenging the vaccine rollout is, but I have no doubt that our city will rise to the challenge and we will continue to vaccinate our adult population as quickly as possible.”
