Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson has received her coronavirus vaccination, and has urged other people in Wolverhampton who have yet to have theirs to come forward too.
Jane was vaccinated on Friday (19th March) at the Aldersley Leisure Village site being run by the local Clinical Commissioning Group. She received a text message from the NHS earlier this week notifying her that she was now eligible to receive the jab as she is in the Priority Groups 1-9.
The latest figures from the NHS show that in Wolverhampton, 84% of over 55s have now received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine. Although very high, GPs and local partners are continuing to contact eligible people who have not yet been vaccinated, to encourage them to book an appointment as soon as possible.
Now Jane has urged eligible Wulfrunians who haven’t come forward yet to do so.
She said: “I am immensely grateful to have received my first dose of the Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine at the Aldersley vaccination hub. It was a very quick and easy process when I arrived, and it was touching to see so many other people getting their jabs too.
“The vaccination programme continues at pace, and everyone over 50 or in the clinically vulnerable category can now book an appointment to get a jab. I am pleased to see take-up is high, but there are some people who haven’t yet come forward to receive a vaccine.
“I would urge everyone in Wolverhampton who is eligible to get a jab to please book an appointment. The vaccines not only protect you, but they protect your friends and family too. It’s safe, quick and easy to get. Thank you to everyone involved in this heroic national effort.”
