Wolverhampton North East MP Jane Stevenson has been elected to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee in the House of Commons.
Jane, who was previously a classical singer and music teacher before entering Parliament, fought off competition from several other Conservative MPs for a place on the committee.
Jane was elected to Parliament in December 2019 and sat on the EU Future Relationship Select Committee before it was abolished after the end of the transition period.
She will now take part in inquiries that the Culture Committee undertakes, including into issues such as the BBC licence fee and football governance.
Jane said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be elected by my Conservative colleagues to sit on the Commons’ Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. Given my background as a classical musician before entering Parliament, I can bring a lot of expertise and experience to the committee.
“I am looking forward to getting stuck into the important topics that this committee investigates. Issues such as reform of the BBC are frequently raised with me by constituents in Wolverhampton, and the select committee has a vital role to play in making recommendations to the Government on the way forward.”
