Jane Stevenson MP met former Love Island contestant Georgia Harrison yesterday who gave evidence to the Women and Equalities Committee in Parliament.
Speaking to MPs, Georgia highlighted her ordeal as a victim of revenge porn and the emotional impact it had on her.
Speaking to the Committee, Georgia said:
“It absolutely horrified me that an individual had done this to me but what horrified me was that these platforms were hosting these videos that were unconsented…
It got to the point where I was so emotionally affected by what happened to me and ended up being physically ill as well to the point where I was in hospital for five days over Christmas…”
Commenting, Jane said:
“I want to congratulate Georgia who has done amazing work and has been incredibly brave going public. It is vital women feel able to speak out against this sort of abuse. It is crucial that we clamp down on revenge porn and I will be working with colleagues to look at amendments in the Criminal Justice Bill to ensure this awful crime is addressed.”
